What this means
Your home page has a <meta name="description"> tag and its content is between 70 and 155 characters. That is enough to describe the product in a full sentence and short enough to show without truncation. Failing means the tag is missing, empty, or its content is outside that range.
How we test it
We fetch your home page, following at most 3 redirects, and parse the HTML. We read the content attribute of the <meta name="description"> tag in the <head> and count its characters after trimming whitespace. A length of 70 to 155 passes; a missing or empty description fails; a length outside the range fails and we report it.
Why it matters
The description controls the snippet under the title. When it is missing, the search engine writes its own from whatever text it finds on the page, which is rarely the sentence you would choose. When it is too long, the end is cut; when it is too short, the snippet looks thin next to the results around it. The Fix Kit audits description length on every page in the sitemap for the same reason it audits titles: it is the second line of the result a searcher reads.
The fix
Edit the <meta name="description" content="..."> tag in the <head> of the home page so the content is one factual sentence of 70 to 155 characters (static site: the page or shared head partial; Next.js: description in the route's generateMetadata or static metadata object). Then run node scripts/seo-audit.mjs https://YOUR_DOMAIN/sitemap.xml, which reports every page whose description is missing or out of range.

Do not change anything yet. This is a verification pass only. Run: curl -sL --max-redirs 3 https://YOUR_DOMAIN/ -o /tmp/home.html Extract the tag: grep -oiE '<meta[^>]*name="description"[^>]*>' /tmp/home.html Print the content attribute and its character count with whitespace trimmed. Tell me whether the count is between 70 and 155. Find the file or component that sets the description and show me the line. List what it would take to bring it into range, without editing anything. Verify: the printed length is a number from 70 to 155; if it is not, report the exact length and stop.
